On Tuesday, Sony Corp. said that its television business will roar back into action, pumping up shipments by about 70%, with 25 million TV sales.
The manufacturer of Bravia televisions aims to amplify its TV sales in the next financial year ending March 2011.
Yoshihisa Ishida, Senior Vice President in charge of Sony's home entertainment business, said, "Fiscal 2010 is really a year when we think we can attack".
Osamu Hirose, an Analyst at Tokai Tokyo Securities, said, "Sony will probably boost sales volume but competition against South Korean rivals will likely make it hard to increase revenue".
According to DisplaySearch, Sony managed to stand among global TV makers, after Samsung and LG Electronics by revenue in the fourth quarter.
According to Sony's plans, 10% of 25 million TV sets should be competent of 3-D images. A 46-inch model will be one of the first 3-D models scheduled for sale on June 10 in Japan for about Y350,000.
Launch date for other markets, including North America, has yet to be decided by Sony.
