Verizon Wireless has released new figures on its Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless broadband network.
According to recent experiments in Boston and Seattle, it seems the network is capable to reach download speed of up to 50 Mbps and upload speed of 25Mbps.
The new network is believed to reach up to 100 million people throughout the US and offer speeds equivalent to cable-based broadband services.
By offering high speed and wide coverage, it seems Verizon is all set to woo the Americans with its LTE wireless broadband network.
Tony Melone, Verizon Wireless Vice-President and Chief Technical Officer said, "Our LTE rollout plan positions Verizon Wireless to be a global leader in 4G LTE deployment".
"As device makers, manufacturers and others around the world begin to introduce newer and faster products to take advantage of these incredible new speeds, Verizon Wireless will be positioned to offer our customers new and exciting products on the nation's first 4G LTE network", he added.
According to a Verizon Spokeswoman, the company plans to launch LTE in 25 to 30 cities by the end of 2010.
Meanwhile, the battle between providers for high speed wireless is becoming more and more intense. While AT&T Inc. is working on its LTE network, Sprint Nextel has already publicized its 4G abilities over WiMax in 27 cities.
Verizon has a tough competition to face and will definitely have to offer something out of the box to win over the masses to make LTE network a success.
And it seems that Americans will have a treat getting to choose its favorite 4G network from a variety of options available in the market.
