FileMaker, the Apple-owned establishment, took the wraps off its latest offering on Tuesday, the FileMaker Pro 11, which comes as the next major version of its popular database product, adding more features to its predecessor.
In a recently undertaken study, the company had discovered that about 80% of the people who use FileMaker already have a task to execute on their mind. With this new input, FileMaker started to develop a new version which could prove more productive for the users and also be faster.
"It's very much a back to basics release for us. We think ease of use is the core proposition in a database", said Ryan Rosenberg, Vice President of Marketing and Services at FileMaker.
To help users get started with the new product, FileMaker has added a new template termed "Invoices", a task which many users, it has been discovered, want to get up and running as quickly as possible. In all, FileMaker now has a total of 31 starter templates which have been included in the application.
Other important and useful features of the FileMaker Pro 11 are charting, support to create spreadsheet-type documents and an Inspector feature which is aimed at helping users with designing.
