Monaro Highway Safety Taken Care of By State Govt.

New heavy vehicle safety measures have been announced on the Monaro Highway in the New South Wales South East by the State Government.

Vehicles weighing more than 4.5 tones will be targeted, as measures like point-to-point camera and speeding fines will come into effect this month. The camera will be fixed on a 34km stretch between Bredbo and Cooma, which is a measure to maintain highway safety.

Steve Whan, the member for Monaro says, “Some years ago, when this government got in, the Monaro Highway actually couldn't bring a B Double or even a semi-trailer through from Victoria up the Monaro Highway

The bridges were in a dilapidated state as they were old and wooden, and in some spots the highway wasn't sealed. Steve Whan affirms that he has all that possibly could have been done in order to maintain the safety and security of the Monaro Highway.
