Dr Susan Hou to Be in India on World Kidney Day

The renowned doctor, who donated her kidney to one of her patients seven years back, Dr. Susan Hou, will be visiting India on March 11th, which is marked as the World Kidney Day every year.

In an event organized by the Tanker Foundation, this Monday, Dr. Susan received honor from Georgi Abraham, Founder-Trustee of Tanker Foundation.

Dr. Susan Hou provided information on renal disorders found in pregnant women, during the event.

"If we believe in the brotherhood of men, then there should be no second thought in donating your kidneys to anybody as no donation is unrelated", said Dr. Susan.

She shared that prior to the surgery that involved the donation; her husband Dr. Mark Moli was anxious and worried. But he was relaxed after the surgery.

She also pointed out that the donor's health conditions must be examined carefully before the donation. The donor must be free from cancer or other such ailments.

The earlier reports show that back in the year 2004, her decision of donating the kidney had suffered strong criticism.

"I can't bring about world peace, I can't eliminate world hunger, but I can get one person off dialysis", Dr. Susan had said in 2004.
