AIDS Awareness Drive Taken Up at DSS
AIDS Awareness Drive Taken Up at DSS

The student council members from Dunnville Secondary School have started off with selling AIDS awareness packages in the school premises, which include pamphlets carrying AIDS-prevention measures and AIDS ribbons, on the 19th of February.

"A lot of people don't know how easy it is to get AIDS and HIV, or that there is no treatment", said Sarah Robb, a member of Dunnville Secondary School Student Council.

The packages were sold at one Dollar each.

"The packages contained a pack of gum which was a great incentive. Also in the package was an AIDS awareness booklet so as students took the gum out, the booklet also came with it. This made the students actually see the booklet and they were bound to read it", said Student Council President Alisha Gee.

The students came up with the awareness drive, in the wake of rapid spread of the disease, as reported by CDS.

CDS also reported than unprotected sex leads to a higher risk of AIDS in men. The circumcision recommended by the CDS aims to provide a protection to men from HIV.
