New Initiatives Aim at Providing More Support to People Suffering from Disabilit

Reports have confirmed that the Government is all set to kick-start two new initiatives, aimed at providing greater support to people who suffer from disabilities and their families.

The main aim of the initiatives is to bring down the cost of caring for this particular group of Singaporeans, in addition to encouraging their families to save-up more funds for their long-term care needs.

As the initial push, the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, or MCYS, as it is more commonly knows, will be offering a S$300 monthly subsidy for every resident child enrolled in the Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Children (EIPIC).

Under the program, children up-to the age of 6 will be provided with social, educational and therapy services.

In addition, a new CPF scheme will also be launched, as the Special Needs Savings Scheme, to encourage parents to reserve funds for the long-term care needs of their children suffering from disabilities.
