Relay for Life for Cancer Patients
Relay for Life

Fund raising ways for Saturday's Relay for Life has been done by Nelson workplaces, community organizations and groups of friends over the past months.

Relay for Life is a 17-hour relay around Saxton Field, which is held after every two years in order to raise funds for Nelson Cancer Society.

All of the ninety teams, who have entered are required to raise minimum $1000.

Teams had been holding garage sales, garden trails, housie afternoons, raffles, quiz evenings and morning teas to order to raise funds, said Cancer Society acting Manager Linda Lucre.

Account Manager Sarah Delaney said, “Having a team is just another way we can support the event and the Cancer Society. We have more than 100 staff here so it's a great way for people from different departments to interact and spend time together outside of work. I just hope we don't get too tired and cranky”.

Nelson accounting firm WHK will be auctioning its Thomas the Tank Engine trolley, which bagged the Stylemeister Award at last month's trolley derby. A lot of time has been spent in building the trolley, which is suitable for kids as well as adults.

The money that will be raised through all these measures will help Nelson Cancer Society to provide support services to the people afflicted with cancer.
