Westland High School Refuses Vaccine Administration in Campus

The principal of Westland High School, Tony Guilliland, refuted their plan to allow anti – cervical immunization to be provided on the school premises. He commented that the school management would not want to act like endorsers for the vaccine.

It has been reported that the school has pulled out its request from the West Coast District Health Board to manage the Gardasil human papillomavirus vaccine on its campus. The vaccine aim to prevent cervical cancer among girls from the age of 12.

DHB spokesperson Brian Jamieson said, “it is the school's right to decide whether to allow immunizations to take place on its premises”. He further added that it is choice of parents to take their daughters to a doctor. A venue has been arranged for the event to take place to facilitate the people who want to be vaccinated willfully.

The school decision has been altered after few complaints were reported after the vaccination of the drug. One such complaint was lodged by Rhonda Renata who held the Gardasil vaccine to be liable for the death of her 18 year old daughter. Ms Renata said, ``right from the first shot, Jasmine complained of ailments including headaches, weak limbs, pins and needles, abdominal and chest pains, and a racing heartbeat”.

A website named www. offtheradar. co. nz has been started to showcase the concerns regarding the vaccine.
