Dengue Spread on hike in Tully

Two more cases of dengue fever were reported yesterday in Tully wherein one male and a female were being diagnosed with the disease.

A team of the health experts will be visiting the region to scrutinize the surroundings.

"There is a large amount of people moving between Tully and the rest of North Queensland, including Townsville and Cairns where historically we have had regular dengue outbreaks", said Queensland Health medical director Dr Jeffrey Hanna.

The experts have said that the risk of dengue can be reduced by living air-conditioned houses.

The symptoms of dengue range from mild fever, to fatal conditions.

The health officials also recommend the people to visit a doctor if even a single person of a family depicts dengue symptoms.

The typical symptoms of dengue comprise sudden commencement of fever, severe headache, pain in muscles and joints, minor bleeding, immense itching, rash arms and hair loss, etc.

The dengue viruses have been categorized as Dengue 1, 2, 3 and 4, affecting people worldwide.

Dengue mosquitoes breeding takes up easily in open water containers. However, it cannot breed in rivers and open drains, etc.
