Chewing gum Linked to Risk of Developing Wrinkles

The health experts have warned that a constant gum-chewing habit can cause wrinkles to pop up apart from refreshing our breath and helping us in quitting smoking.

As per the doctors, people who chew gum compulsively have a high risk to develop wrinkles around their mouth.

"Many of my patients who are gum chewers have a certain pattern of wrinkles around their mouth," says Dr. Joel Schlesinger, a board certified dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon from Omaha, Neb.

Experts link the gum-wrinkle connection with two things. First, there's the repetitive motion while chewing, results in lines and folds around the mouth due to muscle overuse, reveals Dr. Hema Sundaram, a Washington, D. C.-area cosmetic surgeon and laser expert.
