So, it appears that Humax has narrowly beaten Sharp in the apparent FreeView HD tuner race.
The latest Humax offering is the elegant HD-FOX T2., while Sharp offered TU-T2 and TU-T2HR32, soon after.
The higher-end model, TU-T2HR32 is striving to give HD-FOX T2, a run for its money. Comparing to the single-tuner, memory-free HD-FOX T2, the TU-T2HR32 offers dual tuners and a 320GB hard drive, meaning that not only you can record two sitcoms simultaneously; you can do it while you watch a previous recording.
The TU-T2HR32, just like the HD-FOX T2, will offer standard-definition programmes to a 1080p resolution. Also included, is a USB socket, in case you require extra storage, and an Ethernet port for access to services such as
4oD, iPlayer and ITV Player.
The lower model to the TU-T2HR32 up is the FreeView HD Sharp TU-T2, which does not offer recording of shows, though it has upscaled the resolution, just like the TU-T2HR32.
Also keeping the gadget freaks excited, is the recent announcement made by Sharp, of the TU-T1UR FreeView+ tuner, which can record to not one, not two, but three front-mounted USB ports.
Though the date of release of the aforementioned models has not been announced by Sharp, all we can hope is that whenever the new line hits the market, it comes with a cheaper price tag than its rival HD-FOX T2, which is currently priced at £180.
