People using twitter, will now be able to reveal with geographical tagging, the location from where they exactly are tweeting. This new optional feature was added to Twitter, a messaging site currently used by 73 million users globally.
The location can be displayed on the internet messaging service only if user wants the tracking tool to be functional and whenever not needed, the feature can be switched off. This addition was unveiled by Twitter on Thursday.
This step was taken by Twitter after a number of other internet services popped this feature up for enhancing their popularity. Others who already facilitate the users with this geo location tool are Foursquare, Gowalla and Loopt, with an expectation of Facebook opting for the same soon.
Prior to this feature, the users mentioned their locations in the messages, which already are restricted to be within 140 characters.
Twitter’s location tool is expected to increase internet service advertising as more specific information regarding the user can now be attained. Twitter is alarming its users to be watchful while they use this new tool. Web browsers specifically Chrome and Firefox 3.5 will be used by Twitter’s location tool while Google Inc.'s Gears software needs to be downloaded for Internet Explorer.
