Health agency of the province has been ordered to present a report within 10 days by Alberta's Health Minister following the mistakes that occurred while treatment of some children at Calgary's children's hospital. This has been directed after four errors occurred during the treatment and this highlights the pitiable equipment facilities that mar the Alberta Children's Hospital.
Alberta's Health Minister Gene Zwozdesky made an announcement informing that he has asked the health super board and the Health Quality Council to look into the matter and release a report in not more than 10 days, so that a public explanation can be released.
A two page review of the errors was released by Alberta Health Services on Tuesday after a 58-page summary report was denied to be disclosed by the authorities due to security concerns. He said, "They are doing that as we speak and in less than 10 days, they will have the full report issued to the public as requested by me".
This is an alarming call for Canada as a 2005 international study rates it the second highest in the rate of medical errors with 30% of patients suffering due to medical mistakes or some faults in health care.
The hospital has apologized for the errors but health minister wants them to publically accept the mistakes and then assure the patients that nothing goes wrong in future.
