Microsoft and Sony each revealed to witness marginal gains in February 2010 console unit sales year over year, and, as augured they each have their own spin on NPD's retail sales data.
Xbox 360 registered to sell nearly 333k units in January, outlining a 7 percent year-over-year gain. Last month, Microsoft grabbed sales of 422k units, an 8 percent year-over-year gain, or further indication the system's making small if steady gains.
However, on the other side, Sony reported to sell 277k units in January (+36%) and 360k units in February (+30%), much higher year-over-year- gains.
In an email, Microsoft tagged February 2010 its "biggest February in Xbox 360 history", attributing it to a stellar portfolio including exclusive blockbuster games, a fresh series of latest content on Xbox LIVE and high speculation for controller-free gaming and entertainment with 'Project Natal' for Xbox 360.
Sony's revealed that the NPD figures bear somewhat similar overtones, citing an outstanding demand for PlayStation 3, while suggesting the system's sales numbers would be even higher.
