The estimated figures by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued on Friday revealed that nearly 12,000 Americans died from swine flu between its emergences last April until mid-February,
While, nationwide, an estimated 86 million people - out of over 300 million Americans - had got one of the about 155 million doses of H1N1 vaccine.
"A lot of the people in town who wanted the vaccine have already got it by now," said Marshfield's director of public health, Peter J. Falabella.
"Secondly, at one point swine flu was more widespread in the community. Now it's more sporadic," he added.
Seasonal flu activity has been unusually reported to be at a low this winter, outlining that the H1N1 swine flu strain outpaced the usual seasonal H1N1 and H3N2 strains.
It is revealed that the percentage of vaccinated residents from town to town is still not known.
Each vaccine is tracked, however, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Public Health did not disclosed the latest figure, posting that it would not be "anywhere close to" accurate as healthcare providers are still reporting activity.
