ICANN Delays the .xxx Proposal Till June Meetings in Brussels

Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has reached a decision that the discussions regarding the proposal of ".xxx" domain for adult porn Websites, will be taken up in its next meeting planned to be organized in Brussels by June.

The deal regarding the .xxx offer for pornographic sites was initiated by ICANN in 2005 by assigning names and numbers as a supervisory body of internet with ICM registry. But it was rejected in 2007 by the board following Government dissatisfaction, later however it was decided the rejection was not right. The board stated that decision of rejecting the proposal was "not consistent with the application of neutral, objective, and fair documented policy".

The postponement was decided in the closing session of meetings that were taking place in Nairobi, Kenya. In a poll that backed the anonymous decision of delaying the discussions also directed the CEO and the Council to get ready with a detailed report of "possible process option" to sketch the advancement of the .xxx plan.

Expecting the resolution decision to consider the proposal in next two weeks, ICM Registry CEO Stuart Lawley said that he expects the implementation of the same.

But, on the other hand, ICANN CEO Rod Beckstrom posted a blog showing his disapproval by terming the decision as "not unanimous" and stating that it was opposed fairy.
