The LA Times reports that Jason West and Vince Zampella, the fathers of Call of Duty, have signed with the Creative Artists Agency, which is the biggest talent agency in Hollywood. Earlier they worked as heads of Infinity Ward from where they were unceremoniously fired by Activision last week.
The Creative Artists Agency represents top names in music, TV, sports and music which include eminent personalities like Tom Hanks, Simon Cowell, Justin Timberlake and the NFL's Manning brothers.
The joining of these high-profile developers with a Hollywood talent agency is not viewed as a very remarkable development. They belong to the gaming industry and now all of a sudden they have jumped into entertainment industry which is drastically different.
Developers have no representation and they always are full-time hires with a studio.
But, it is a clear indication that Hollywood does take the gaming industry seriously these days, and this can prove to be an attractive move for both Zampella and West.
Maybe this step taken by the now-former Infinity Ward heads will bring a change in the way video game developers are hired or mark an important career change for the duo.
