Some new documents seem to confirm that IT vendors who possess strong existing installations across Auckland councils are in the front seat to become the ICT suppliers to the new Auckland Council, which is all set to take charge of the region starting November 01.
John Holley, the Auckland Regional Council's ICT Group Manager, had sent out a recommendation last October which stressed that the Auckland Transition Agency should make use of the systems which are already being utilized within the councils or systems which have been picked as a part of a recent tender, to offer both strategic and tactical IT services on Day One of the Supercity.
The new documents were obtained under the Local Government Information Act, and were received by Computerworld. The report is inclusive of a response from the Waitakere City Council to a memo from Mike Foley, the Stream Leader of Business Processes and Systems for the ATA, send out on September 30.
"These are key systems for the new council to manage and integrate with the existing councils’ systems with effect from the operational date of 1 November 2010", said John Johnson, Waitakere City’s Group Manager for Information.
