With all the bras which were collected from recycling centers and op shops, the Bosom BuDDies ended up showing their complete support for the friends and families affected cancer.
Over 1,000 Nelsonians poured in at Saxton Field for the two-yearly Relay for Life, which happened over the weekend. The aim of the event is to raise funds for the Nelson Cancer Society.
"Most of us have people directly or indirectly affected by cancer. We've done [the relay] a few times, it's a good cause", said Linda McCutcheon from Tapawera, while sharing that the bra fence just seemed like an idea which was worth trying out.
The relay started at 4 PM on Saturday, and all the walkers braced themselves for the coming 17 hours, which saw a participation of 93 teams.
The relay was opened with a lap which involved cancer survivors and care-providers.
Lee Corlett, the Relay logistics organizer, shared that the even had turned out to be "awesome".
