The threat of life posed by the deadly disease Cancer is given a flowery response by the Canadian Cancer Society which celebrates the freshness of spring and waves a good bye to the winters by celebrating "Daffodil Days". The occasion is a representation of optimism in the combating of cancer.
But a minor bump has raised its head this year because of the unexpected and quick winter as the arrival of the flowers by Nova Scotia shipment faces a minor delay. It has been reported that the daffodils will be availed from April 14 to 18, as they were initially scheduled to arrive by March 24 to 28.
Not only the Cancer Society in Canada, but this celebration of selling and distributing daffodils is held by various Cancer Societies around the globe in April, as it coincides with the Cancer Awareness Month. Canada is the largest buyer of daffodils in world with almost half a million of flowers sold.
Maureen Summers, CEO, Nova Scotia Division of the Cancer Society said that this arrival of the flowers will initiate the month long Cancer Awareness activity scheduled. CEO also said she wants to thank volunteers who help in selling daffodils as a part of the celebration.
