Two of the nation's top research entities, namely the CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific & Industrial Research Organization) and the Bureau of Meteorology, reportedly released a "State of the Climate" report today, emerging as strong defense of the science behind global warming in the midst of rising confusion over climate change.
The leading research bodies post that the evidence cannot be refuted, quoting climate change is real and is undoubtedly due to human activity
"We've had some serious tabloid junking of... science and research in our community", Professor Peter Coaldrake, the Chairman of Universities Australia, quoted.
Report claim that climate warming is extremely unpredictable on account of natural causes alone.
The scientists reveal that global 2009 carbon dioxide concentration to be 386 parts per million (ppm) much higher than the natural level of 170 to 300 ppm that existed in the atmosphere for the past 800,000 years.
In addition, the report uncovers that the mean temperature in Australia has registered a rise by 0.7 degree Celcius in the past 50 years, while, since 1993, sea levels around the island continent to jump by 7-10mm per year in the north and west, and 1.5 to 3mm in the south and east.
