Koshigaya Park Incident Calls for Increased Security
Koshigaya Park

A Campbelltown mother has raised her voice, asking authorities to install CCTV cameras in Koshigaya Park, after a man was brutally beaten.

The woman, who asked for anonymity, was with her three children when they witnessed the attack on March 3.

"My family and I had been eating dinner at Koshigaya Park at dusk when about eight men of Pacific Islander appearance approached another man at one of the park's barbecues and began attacking him", she said, describing the events she witnessed.

She said that her children were playing when the assailants attacked the man.

The witness has called for the installation of cameras in the park because by the time the police reached the spot, the group was nowhere to be seen, she explained.

Campbelltown Police Acting Inspector David Ralph said, "Koshigaya Park has been pretty good for the past few years so we hope this kind of thing is a one-off".

Campbelltown Mayor Aaron Rule stated that the council will be obliged to find all ways possible to increase Koshigaya Park's safety, while adding that if there are any problems regarding safety at the Park, the authorities would be "happy to look at that".
