Twitter Co-Founder Says Censorship in China will Fade Away

On Monday, Twitter Co-Founder, Evan Williams told a crowd of technology freaks that disreputable censorship firewalls in countries such as China will make way for online advancements.

Williams said, "The Internet is a tidal wave that is going to be impossible for anyone to keep out".

He said that in places like China, it is, however, difficult to say how long these firewalls will take to fall down.

Beijing has kept a tight rein on online content in a huge system of censorship often called the "Great Firewall of China". It eliminates information that it considers harmful, like pornography and violence, and politically sensitive matter.

However, if Beijing continues to stick to censoring its web searches, search engine giant, Google has said that it is ready to depart from the world's biggest online market.

Williams said, "We are just realizing the promise of the Internet. It is about democratization of information that anybody can share with the world... It will continue to change institutions for the coming decades".

After its creation in 2006, Twitter has become a rage among people. People share thoughts, information and activities in the form of short messages.
