Dell Slaps 5 LCD Manufacturers with Lawsuit Over Price-Fixing

As was confirmed by a Dell spokesperson on Monday, the company has slapped a lawsuit against as many as 5 LCD manufacturers, alleging them with colluding to fixed prices for their products.

The suit was filed on Friday in the U. S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Dell spokesperson David Frink confirmed that names of the companies which have been charged as Epson, Hitachi, Sharp, Toshiba and HannStar.

"We're seeking to recover money collected for LCD panels that were purchased at artificially inflated prices, set through what we believe was an unlawful collaboration", he shared.

No specifications have been shared by Dell on how much money it is seeking in damages, but Mr. Frink has confirmed that the computer manufacturer is seeking a jury trial.

All the five accused vendors are based in Asia, and no comments have yet been shared by them on the development.

In a price-fixing probe that was being undertaken by the US Department of Justice, several LCD makers had already pleaded guilty, which resulted in the agency collecting fines of over $860 Million.
