As has been revealed by the online measurement service Hitwise, search engine and Internet giant Google was last week beaten by Facebook in terms of traffic to become the most visited website of the week in the US.
Hitwise's Research Director Heather Dougherty shared in an official blog post that while Facebook recorded 7.07% of all web traffic for the week up-to March 13, Google slipped below recording 7.03% of entire traffic.
For quite some time now, Facebook seems to have been threatening Google, and in addition to the past week, the social networking website managed to beat Google on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, New Year's Day and the weekend of March 6-7.
But this week's achievement has been a definite feather in Facebook's cap as it shows a rapid rise for the networking website which had recorded a mere 2% of all web traffic in March of 2009.
With the latest figure, Facebook has been able to boast a whopping 185% year-on-year rise in web traffic.
