UK Medical Chief Urges Citizens to Reduce Meat Consumption
Meat Consumption

Britain’s Chief Medical Officer, Sir Liam Donaldson has presented an annual report advocating that the diet of the Britons has been adding to the heating up of earth. He has, therefore, been urging the people to reduce the consumption of meat.

He explained that an average 30% reduction in the consumption of meat nationwide, every year, would save more than 18,000 lives. The health experts claim that excessive meat consumption gives way to heart diseases leading to thousands of deaths, yearly.

“These are contentious matters but they need to be openly debated and options weighed up”, he said.

He also recommended NHS to provide all kind of treatments to the people, thereby preventing the patients from seeking the treatments elsewhere.

In view of NHS being the largest carbon footprint of all the private organizations in Europe, he suggested it to take up the task of reducing the greenhouse gas emissions better than others.

He is of the view that grandparents play a very significant role in upbringing of the children and therefore, it is very important for them to inculcate healthy eating habits in the children.
