Victorian Government and Logica Renew Property Mapping Deal

The Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) has guaranteed IT services from Logica for another three years by renewing a $ 5M deal with it.

Logica, as it did in the past, will continue to administer and oversee, store and supply spatial data and report back to Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment.

Paul Sargeant, Logica Australia Government Industry Director, said, "We've been working with the Victorian DSE now for 15 years and still continue to deliver".

Logica will employ data from Land Registry, Local Government, VicRoads and consulting surveyors, and return it to the Victorian Government. This data has been integral in creating the Victorian Government's Vicmap Property database, private addresses, Crown land, post codes, local government boundaries and development sites.

It is also notable that Logica has been a prominent provider of technological skills in the global utility sector and has created Australia's first survey of attitudes to smart grid and advanced meters.

However, the deal did not come with ease. Logica had to contend for the deal through a competitive tender procedure. But with a history par excellence in dealing with sensitive data, it was plausible that Logica would bag the opportunity again.
