Do not Push China on Currency, says UK Foreign Secretary

The Chinese state radio on Tuesday reported that U. K. Foreign Secretary David Miliband has warned not to pressurize China regarding the issue of currency exchange rates. This was stated two days after Premier Wen Jiabao said that external pressure on the currency was obstructing Beijing currency improvements. This was stated by Miliband in their meeting that took place in Beijing earlier on Tuesday.

As the economy of China recovers, international external pressure has been pushing Beijing for resuming local unit against US Dollar whereas China has reserved the Yuan against the U. S. dollar since July 2008.

Wen on Sunday said that they oppose countries pushing at each other or taking steps to compel other countries to appreciate their national currencies. He said, "To do this is not beneficial to reform of the renminbi exchange-rate regime".
