About 100 women, some of them breast cancer survivors, will be driving from Delhi to Jaipur on April 02, with the aim to create more awareness about the condition which ends up killing over 40,000 women across India every year.
"Breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in cities and we hope this rally will spread awareness among people", said Ramesh Sarin, Founder Chairperson of the Forum for Breast Cancer Protection.
Senior Oncologist at AIIMS, P. K. Julka has revealed that almost 100,000 women fall prey to breast cancer in India, out of which 40,000 end up dying mainly because of lack of awareness and late diagnosis. She insisted that people need to change their lifestyle and make it healthier by balancing food and exercise, which is the key to fighting the disease.
Two awareness lectures at Dharuhera and Alwar would be held by organizers during the rally, and also, a short film on the condition would be screened as a part of the drive. CDs and literature would be distributed to women for self checks.
The rally is all set to commence on April 02 from Saket in South Delhi.
