Relay For Life at Cessnock this weekend

Cessnock is ready to hold its third Relay For Life this weekend and is also looking forward to 'celebrate, remember and fight back' during the relay.

The Cancer Council fundraiser, which starts at 2pm, have about 64 teams with more than 600 people registered for it.

The relay would be led by young cancer survivor Blaize Tsakissiris and her parents Michael and Gail. Blaize, 19, is this year's patron and is quite excited about her role in the relay.

"It should be a great day and I'm really looking forward to it," Blaize said.

Loads of activities are lined up the day that include line dancing, Tai Chi, aerobics, the Box Car Derby, and Tae Kwon Do, kids' activities and live entertainment.

A Target of $100,000 has been set for the relay.

A break will be taken at 7pm during which a Candlelight Ceremony of Hope, that will remember loved ones who have lost their battles with cancer, will be organized.

Prizes for best-dressed teenager, adult, child, best banner, and best tent are also lined up.

There will be prizes for those teams that register and pay for 2011.
