TAC, WorkCover patients refused treatment
TAC, WorkCover patients refused treatment

A woman has alleged that being a TAC patient she was refused to be treated by a surgeon post an accident for which she traveled for about three hours to Melbourne.

Claire told 774's Jon Faine, "The surgeon said that he hadn't realised that I was a TAC patient, that he wouldn't see me, and that I should go home."

According to Claire, who is from Western Victoria, about 10 surgeons have refused treatment to her because she is a Transport Accident Commission patient.

Another TAC patient said that it was not the paper work that was making surgeons not treat TAC patients but it was something else as she's been asked to pay the gap between what her specialists charge and the amount the TAC will pay.

TAC stated that they are concerned by these reports.

The TAC's Phil Reed said, "We understand that has caused some degree of frustration for some medical providers."

The TAC however has ensured that patients have an access to the services they are entitled to, he said.
