LTA Launches Portal to Provide Transport Updates

The Land Transport Authority has launched a remarkable mobile service which will allow the travelers to enquire about the bus services well in advance. The MyTransport. SG service was enforced yesterday.

The service can be accessed via GPRS or wireless broadband networks. But the navigation and location detection services provided by the portal can be accessed only through the iPhones and the phones having the Android or Windows Mobile software.

The new service also guides the commuters while walking, public-transport or driving, showing directions via Google Maps or Gothere. sg. The service also comes with the advantage of providing traffic update and vacant parking locations.

The Transport Minister Raymond Lim appreciated the portal calling it "a one-stop platform, offering a suite of mobile services from transport-related portals".

He also said that the service would also add to the awareness among the people.

At the launch of the service Yesterday, LTA's Chief Executive, Mr. Yam Ah Mee, said the new portal aims at delivering speedy and accurate information on transport. It will also enable the users in calculating the duration of their travel, thereby helping them manage things better.
