It has been revealed through intense studies that depression patients who are suffering from any kind of physical illness can also be treated effectively by using antidepressants. As many as 3603 patients were involved in the survey with their illnesses ranging from stroke to cancer. It was also reported that patients who were suffering from Parkinson's disease and also HIV/AIDS also had calming effect due to the antidepressants.

The research brought to light that the treatment to patients who were administered placebos was not as effective as the treatment of antidepressants. But it was also reported that antidepressants had their own adverse effects which also included dry mouth and probable sexual dysfunction.

It was also announced that this find could mean something huge to all patients who undergo depression as a result of physical illness. But it was also made clear that the severity of the illness was a huge matter and also the patients who were severely depressed were also not considered. It was announced that there were possibilities that the antidepressants would not work well for people with severe physical illness.
