MGM Owes CityCentre Contractor

On Friday MGM Mirage disclosed that its main general contractor for the 8.5 billion dollar CityCentre project has filed a lien to collect its unpaid bills that amount to $492 million.

The announcement followed a statement from Tutor Perini Co., whose Perini Building unit is the main contractor for the joint venture between MGM Mirage and Dubai World that stated the contractor's intent of filing a lien to the tune of $491.2 million with CityCentre. Nevada Law requires Tutor Perini to file in the intent for the lien at least 15 days in advance should MGM decide to forfeit the payment under any circumstances.

"The company intends to pursue collection of all amounts owed, to exercise all rights and remedies available to it, and to defend itself vigorously against any claims that MGM ultimately decides to pursue", averred Tutor Perini.

Meanwhile MGM, continued its efforts to garner monies to pay off the debt. According to the casino operator MGM Mirage had already amassed around 826 million dollars through a recent debt offering.
