Google’s Immaturity over the Launch of its New Social Networking Service

Federal Trade Commissioner Pamela Jones Harbor does not seem to be too pleased with Google’s launch of Buzz- a social networking service. She feels it does not help in keeping the privacy levels of the customers to a safe standard and sets a dangerous example of exposing the customer data. A consumer’s privacy is of the utmost importance for the company, as quoted by Ms. Harbor.

A lot of world renowned companies, which are designated as the leaders, have not yet taken the message as seriously as they should have.

The FTC is expected to make some recommendations regarding the privacy norms which would be set for the companies to follow.

Google, based in Mountain View, Calif., introduced Google Buzz in February and it was met with a gesture of privacy complaints. It had also primarily publically displayed the list of its followers, though there were changes brought in the privacy settings later.

One of the Google’s spokesperson said that it had not been done intentionally and immediate actions were taken.
