Sprint’s First WiMax Phone Rumored to Launch Next Week

There are have been rumors that Sprint Mobile Service, which is No. 3 in the United States, for the first time is all set to launch a fourth generation wireless phone, very soon this year, however the dates haven’t been specified.

According to the reports by The Wall Street Journal, the launch of the new 4G phone is expected to be presented by Sprint CEO Dan Hesse at a trade show by CTIA wireless in Las Vegas.

However, it was stated by Sprint Spokeswoman Michelle Leff Mermelstein that “everyone’s been speculating on that one. We have said publicly that we will have a 4G phone out this year, but we have not made any other official statements”.

Also, there are reports from an analyst that this HTC phone would be run by Sprint’s wireless broadband partner Clearwire Corp., and support Sprint's CDMA network.

Sprint has projected that the Clearwire Wimax network is supposedly 10 times faster than the existing 3G systems.
