A new research reveals that enterprises are giving a warm welcome to Windows 7, and the response garnered is much better as compared to Vista.
A survey of more than 900 IT administrators conducted for nine months after the launch of Window 7 internationally, shows that 87% of respondents have decided to install Windows 7, in comparison to 47% who had wanted to install Vista.
Diane Hagglund, Senior Research Analyst for Dimensional Research said, “As Windows XP becomes out of date and more expensive to support and with Vista increasingly insignificant, IT leaders are embracing Windows 7”.
Around 50% of those surveyed were planning to install the operating system across their enterprises before the first service pack is released, and over half of the total respondents plan to upgrade the operating system before the end of the year rolls in.
A large number of users have decided to upgrade their operating system with the help of free tools offered by Microsoft and others and 27% of users will use a commercial upgrade service.
IT administrators’ concern about Windows 7’s incompatibility has also changed. Around 62% of those surveyed at the launch revealed that they were worried about software's stability, which decline to 41% and 25%.
