Doctor Avoids Penalty for Having Fling with Patient

A doctor guilty of a brief fling with a woman who'd been a recent patient has escaped disciplinary charges.

According to a report published in New Zealand Doctor magazine, the Health and Disability Commissioner Ron Paterson has been trying to get-away from the penalty charges being imposed on him for having a fling with a patient, recently.

The woman, who was involved with the doctor since 2008, alleged that he flattered her. She shared that she had visited the doctor 2 times, all alone in 2008.

When in October, 2008 she told him about her crush on him, he tried to getaway, calling their relation "friendly, frank and open".

According to the woman, the doctor took interest in her marital woes and job troubles. He approved suitable medicines for her stress, as well.

The very next day of the lady’s confession, he discussed the matter with one of his coworkers. Early in 2009, they exchanged emails and disclosed that they have been involved physically with each other once.

In May, last year, their affair was detected by the doctor’s wife. Following that their relation ended up.
