Health Ministry Warns Medical Council to Speed up Processes
Tony Ryall

In view of the delay in the cancellation of a doctor’s certificate, who witnessed more than 16 complaints against himself, the Health Ministry has been urging the Medical Council to accelerate its processes.

Health Minister Tony Ryall has asked the council to submit a report explaining the cause of the two-year delay in the cancellation of the Auckland based doctor.

He also shared that the council has admitted that it should have provided a well defined feedback for the Health and Disability Commissioner detailing on their mechanism of dealing with complaints.

"The Council told me that processes could be sped up, particularly where things have been held up by a doctor failing to engage properly with the council", Mr. Ryall.

The feedback also involves the examination of the cases wherein the non-compliance of the doctors was acknowledged as well as not acknowledged.
