Publisher Simon & Schuster's former CEO Dick Snyder's $100-million lawsuit against Warner Music Group Chief Executive Edgar Bronfman, was dismissed Tuesday with costs.
Synder claims that he was not compensated for helping Bronfman negotiate the $2.6-billion purchase of Warner Music from Time Warner Inc. However, the New York County Supreme Court finding no basis for the claim, dismissing the case, ordered Synder to reimburse Bronfman.
Calling it a complete victory for their client, Orin Snyder (no relation to Snyder) of Gibson, Dunn & Cruchter said: 'This opportunistic lawsuit was a lame attempt to extract money from Mr. Bronfman, whose hard work, vision and creativity helped bring about the successful acquisition of Warner Music.'
Plaintiff's lawyer, Robert Gold of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, declined to comment.
