Hair-experts have recently harmonized their views regarding the after effects of hair experimenting including the hair extensions. It was reported in the British Journal of Dermatology last year that females opting for hair extension attachments may end up getting patches of baldness, that too alarmingly permanent and the reported cases are much more than what are revealed.
Sharing the reason for the obsessions of getting "dream hair", Joseph Mourad, a hair stylist said that because of frequently changing hair styles of celebrities, getting the same done instantly is a craze among females.
Hair experts admitted that the report can be true to a greater extent as extensions which are attached very close to the scalp or few strands of hair can strain follicles forcing them to swell, thereby making hair weak and finally resulting in "traction alopecia".
Highlighting the intensity of the problem, the Director of the International Association of Trichologists, David Salinger, said that it is due to greedy hair-stylists who do not want to say no to any of their customer just for making money. He said that even after being well aware of the fact that thin-haired and curly haired clients are not recommended hair extensions, the hair-stylists do not bother refusing clients for the same.
