‘Marley & Me’ Grabs Your Heart

Canine films never seem to have any trouble in capturing audiences, as they fall in love with lovable four-legged stars. But, what if the four-legged star, is not lovable enough for audiences to fall in love with. Well, that is a problem new holiday film 'Marley & Me' had to deal with, as Marley, a yellow Labrador retriever spends all his time chewing on furniture, toys, clothes, shoes, telephone answering machines and, even the scenery.

However, the film version of John Grogan's popular book, wins over the audience via John and Jennifer (Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston), Marley's owners, whose relationship is at the heart of the movie. For the first time, Hollywood 's portrayal of a marriage rings with truth and sincerity.

Wilson and Aniston are a perfect fit, as newly weds they face life's major twists and turns, battles that seem very real, revealing an on-screen performance with the chemistry of a loving couple married for decades.

'Marley & Me' tells a sweet and endearing story of love and devotion, as John wishing to delay the responsibilities of fatherhood, brings Marley in to their life, a pet for his wife. But, the hyper-active dog named for Bob Marley, turns out to be more of a challenge than any child, running riot through the house, leaving broken furniture and chewed walls in his wake, providing some deeply touching scenes.

'Marley & Me' opening Christmas Day, is really a celebration of what a dog can do for your life.
