Two Computer Programmers Convicted of Substantial Fraud

Jerome O'Hara, 47, and George Perez, 44 have been accused of developing computer programs used in Madoff's deceptive investment-advisory trade. Madoff has been sentenced to 150 years of serving in prison for carrying out the biggest Ponzi plot.

The two men who had started working for the company as computer programmers in 1990, had initially been charged with the matter in November. There were no responses from a lawyer for Mr. Perez when contacted on phone.

Mr. Madoff, 71 years old, admitted in March 2009 to successively running a decades-long Ponzi scheme that involved a scam of thousands of investors out of billions of dollars.

A total of six people have been involved in the case out of which three people-Mr. Madoff, key Madoff lieutenant Frank DiPascali Jr., and the firm's former accountant and auditor David Friehling-have pleaded guilty in the matter.

Mr. O'Hara, 47 years old, of Malverne, N. Y., and Mr. Perez, 44, of East Brunswick, N. J., also are facing different civil charges by the SEC in the matter. Mr. O'Hara, however, wants to plead not guilty said Gordon Mehler, a lawyer for Mr. O'Hara.
