Sprint

Following the news of the HTC Incredible set to hit the stores in the US as early as two weeks time, it seems that Sprint is on the verge of taking the wraps off the HTC Supersonic, its first smartphone with 4G service, much earlier than previously thought.

WSJ are reporting that the HTC Supersonic will be making the launch date by new week on March 24th at the annual CTIA Wireless trade show at the keynote speech by Dan Hesse.

Despite getting a glance of the android phone in various photos and videos this past month, exact specification are still not known and are just speculated.

This device is rumored to operate Google's Android OS, featuring a very large high-resolution 4.3 inch touchscreen display. However, the phone is revealed to be the first handset to hit the store shelves, featuring WiMAX connectivity options thereby enabling users to seamlessly switch between Sprint's 3G network and the 4G airwaves.

WiMAX support will bless the Supersonic a higher Internet access compared to any current phone, rumored that it should have peak downlink speeds of up to 12 Mbps, and average downlink speeds of 2-4 Mbps. It will supposedly feature a slim tablet shape operating a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor.

On top of Android OS 2.1, the Supersonic will run HTC Sense, this company's alternate user interface that expands on Google's standard one. It is reported that the new handset will have a ability to hold it up while the user is watching movies on the comparatively large screen.

Apart from unceasingly increasing rumors, many specifications related to the Supersonic, such as the camera resolution or battery capacity, remain unknown.

However, these are all rumors and speculations at the moment till the company extends its official confirmation on the phone by next week and if the rumors are true then this is going to be super phone indeed.
