Google TV on Its Way to Make Your TV a Big Computer

According to reports, Google will revolutionize the way people use their television sets by bringing on a new platform to take out the best of the internet to TV screens.

The internet giant is said to be working with Sony and Intel to develop a system called “Google TV”, and has created a sample set-top box in an endeavor to offer an improved way for people to surf the web applications through their television sets.

Google TV will leverage an edition of the Google Chrome Web browser, allowing users go through the web and video content just as if they were accessing the web from their desktops, laptops, and mobile phones. Google applications would be coupled with Google's stock-in-trade digital ads.

Based on Google's Android operating system, the set-top box will allow web video from YouTube and other applications to run on TV.

According to eWEEK, the service that is being tested on the Dish Network would be accessed through a TV remote and a keyboard. Logitech is believed to be manufacturing devices like a remote with a small keyboard.
