Xbox 360 to Support USB Storage

Gaming blog Joystiq has come out with news that will be welcomed by gaming fanatics throughout the world. It conjectures that Xbox 360 will soon support USB memory storage.

However, Joystiq also bursts the bubble of users of cheap flash drives claiming that the system limits the number of USB mass storage devices to just two. Users will be able to get 32 GB of extra storage besides the storage capacity of their hard drives.

USB devices must have minimum of 1GB storage capacity and maximum of 16GB. The system will support a maximum of two 16GB USB devices.

This alteration will permit gamer profiles, game saves, and entire titles ripped from discs to be stored on USB devices. However, titles ripped from disc will have to be accompanied by discs in the console for the purpose of verification.

Microsoft has chosen to alienate itself from this speculation and hearsay. The company’s representative remarked, "Microsoft does not comment on rumors or speculation”.

Joystiq however maintains that the inferences are not unsubstantiated. It has obtained screenshots and documentation. The blog also discerningly quotes from a memo of a senior software development engineer at Microsoft.
