On this, Hakon Wium Lie of Opera Software said, "This confirms that when users are given a real choice on how they choose the browser, they will try out alternatives".
Opera downloads in countries like Spain, Italy and Denmark went up by an incredible amount. While, It’s said that 77% of downloads in Poland came from the screen and went up by 328% in the next three days.
According to reports, the launch has led to an immense boost in sales all over Europe.
Although Opera’s target was the European market, the Stat Counter Global Stats in March 2010 accounted that Russia’s market share of Opera browser was 32.7%, which was much higher than Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Safari.
Europe was offered the users browser choice as a part of a conclusion subsequent to a 10 year disagreement with the European Commission over the parameters of rivalry.
