Government Strikes Deal with Green Party over Health Products

In order to regulate natural health care products, the Government has struck a deal with the Green Party. A discussion paper highlighting a regulatory rule has been released. It will ensure that natural health products are safe and true to label. In this way the health conscious consumers will be benefitted.

The effort to have a joint trans-Tasman regulatory regime, which was attempted under the last Labor Government, has been killed by this move.

Green MP Sue Kedgley says its important New Zealand keeps hold of control over regulation of natural health products. Natural health products allow the body to do what drugs and man-made chemicals fail to do.
