Texas report claims 12 girls at YFZ ranch were married

In the findings, which focused on a polygamist sect living in Eldorado's 'Yearning for Zion' (YFZ) Ranch, reported by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, at least a dozen pubescent girls, aged 12 to 15, are confirmed victims of sexual abuse.

The much-anticipated report about the raid on the Fundamentalist LDS Church's YFZ Ranch in April was released Tuesday following a public request by the Deseret News. The report reveals the girls were involved in "spiritual" marriages to older men.

In addition, the report also mentions that as a result of their exposure to these improper relationships, hundreds of children at the ranch suffered neglect, due to their exposure to sexual abuse committed within their families or households. All children were placed in state protective custody after the raid.

With 439 children removed from the ranch, the raid caught the nation's attention with the state grappling to place the children in foster care, and the FLDS going to court to win their return back to the families.

The Texas Supreme Court as well as the Court of Appeals ruled that the raid not backed by evidence of sexual abuse, and hence, lacked grounds to seize the children. Following this ruling, the children were returned to their parents.

FLDS spokesman, Willie Jessop, said the report was "a desperate attempt by the officials of the Family and Protective Services Department to try and justify their barbaric actions of April 3."
